The Authors find that ascorbic acid and other polyphenols present in the natural formulation of amla show much superior antioxidant activity compared to their equivalent amounts in pure isolated form.

Amla (Emblica officinalisGaertn.) extract inhibits lipopolysaccharide-inducedprocoagulant and pro-inflammatory factors in cultured vascularendothelial cells.

This study concludes that several potent antioxidants present in Amla such as vitamin C, gallic acid, ellagic acid and complex structured tannins, which have been recognised for their antioxidant, dyslipidaemic,anti-carcinogenic, cytoprotective, anti-diabetic and antimicrobial properties
